The history of Jericho
Rangers for Our Troops (JR4OT) is probably
different than any other organization.
In May 2007, CBS cancelled a post
apocalyptic serial drama called
Jericho. The fans revolted by
launching one of the most successful,
innovative internet grassroots campaigns in
the history of television resulting in CBS
reversing its decision. Through this
campaign,
Jericho fans became known as Jericho Rangers. The Jericho
Rangers also focused their attention on
several humanitarian efforts. One of
the most worthy of efforts raised over
$20,000 for the Rebuild Greensburg, Kansas
Fund after an EF5 tornado completely
destroyed the city.
Once CBS announced a release
date for the Season 1 Jericho DVD set, a
small group of Jericho Rangers who became
close online friends launched another
campaign to send quality entertainment to
deployed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This effort, known as DVDs for Our Troops,
set the stage for the first Jericho Rangers
for Our Troops website. Paula Hawk,
Lisa Coultrup, Steve Wood, Stephanie Sokenis,
Cristy Quire and Flo Jarard worked together
to launch the first JR4OT website with
graphics designed by Jason Moore.
JR4OT received over $3,200 to purchase 101
Jericho Season 1 DVD sets and over
$5,200 for 219
Jericho Season 2 DVD sets. JR4OT
worked closely with the Staten Island
Project Homefront to have these DVDs sent to
the deployed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Today, Stephanie Sokenis and
Steve Wood are taking on the challenges and
tasks to restructure JR4OT’s website and
incorporate JR4OT to be a non-profit
organization with a mission focused on
supporting active duty military and their
families, wounded warriors, and veterans.
Stephanie and Steve possess the passion and
determination to see JR4OT grow, closely
work with other organizations to ensure that
the right people get the right help needed
when they need it.
Frank Ramirez (a veteran) is owed and
has our utmost gratitude for the untiring
devotion and technical support he provided
for the original site.
Although Paula Hawk and Cristy Quire are no longer actively engaged
with JR4OT, their inspiration, dedication
and hard work with its inception will never
be forgotten.
